A password before every connection

Authenticate before taking control, with TLS-encrypted sessions and lockout protection against repeated incorrect passwords.

Find a view that fits

On Windows, choose Fit or 100%, and paste text from your controller’s clipboard onto the remote computer.

FROM THIS COMPUTER TO THAT ONE

Your first connection, step by step

Have your controller and the Windows computer you want to access ready, then follow these five steps.

Install TK Remote on both computers

Use the installer supplied by your administrator. Choose the MSI for Windows. On Mac, choose the Intel or Apple Silicon DMG and move TK Remote into Applications.

Already installed? Check for updates from within the app.

Windows 10 / 11

Works as both a controller and a remote host. Install with MSI to include the service for the Windows sign-in screen.

macOS 12+

Control a Windows computer from an Intel or Apple Silicon Mac. Remote access into the Mac’s own screen is not currently supported.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Good questions.

Understand what is supported and what to prepare before your first connection.

Do both computers need the same Wi-Fi?

No. Computers on the same network can connect over LAN. Computers on different networks use the private internet relay. Both must be installed and connected to the system set up by your administrator.

What if the remote computer is asleep or locked?

Wake support depends on compatible hardware, Wake-on-LAN settings and an online helper on the same LAN. The app shows “Wake and connect” when available. Windows sign-in access requires an MSI installation and an app already running before locking. UAC consent screens and access just after reboot before the user opens the app are not supported.

Can I transfer files, hear audio or switch monitors?

You can control the remote computer’s primary display and paste text from the controller’s clipboard. File transfer, audio, reverse clipboard sync and a multi-monitor selector are not available. Each host supports one controller at a time.

How do I install and update it?

Contact your administrator for a Windows or Mac installer. Installed apps check for updates automatically, or you can check from within the app. Update signatures and file integrity are verified before installation is offered. This page does not provide a public installer.

What should I check if a computer is missing?

Check that the remote computer is awake and TK Remote is running. Check the network, clear the search and refresh the device list. If it is still missing, ask your administrator to confirm both computers belong to the same system. The host must have a password configured before it accepts control.
